Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Women in STEM
We’re dedicated to increasing representation, development, inclusion, and the advancement of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. One way we’ve proven our commitment is through the creation of the Coolest Women in the World program. The mission of this program is to help advance women in HVAC and bring focus to the rewarding careers that are available within our organization. Program participants will gain access to educational workshops, networking events, and mentorship opportunities, while we continue to lay the foundation for a workforce with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
We Welcome Veterans with Open Arms
Our passionate support for veterans, active military personnel, and the families of those who serve or have served, aligns with our rich culture of inclusion. We’re proud to be recognized as a leading veteran-friendly organization and offer year-round opportunities to support, honor, and connect with veterans across Johnson Controls – and beyond.

Diversity Partnerships
When we say DE&I is a business imperative – we mean it. Our work to foster an organizational culture that values uniqueness, celebrates creativity, and drives innovation doesn’t just happen within the walls of our company. Around the world, we have strategic partnerships with organizations that are dedicated to the social, economic, and professional advancement of women and underrepresented minorities. Whether we are networking with talent at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Conference in the U.S., posting about our job opportunities on JobsForHer in India, or hosting fireside chats on leadership topics with Half the Sky in Singapore – our underlying mission is to create pathways to opportunity for women and minorities. By investing in the recruitment, hire, retention and promotion of diverse talent, we not only move the needle on doing what’s right, but we better position our company to achieve its full business potential.
Business Resource Groups
Johnson Controls supports and sponsors Business Resource Groups (BRGs) across the company. As an integral part of a diverse and inclusive workplace, BRGs focus on two important benefits – development and impact.
Our BRGs are employee-driven, voluntary, and open to all employees. There are currently 11 BRGs, with more than 70 chapters spanning the globe.
Engaging employees to serve as catalysts for advancing sustainable business practices across Johnson Controls.
Recognizing and supporting our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees, their families and their allies.
Striving to improve the competitiveness of Johnson Controls as the employer of choice for Black professionals.
Creating connections and promoting the development of our future leaders.
Advancing the skills, professional development and opportunities for the Hispanic and Latinx employee network at Johnson Controls.
Supporting people impacted by disabilities.
Making Johnson Controls the veteran’s employer of choice, leveraging this tested, diverse talent pool to exceed Johnson Controls business expectations.
Harnessing the power, influence and intelligence of Johnson Controls women employees to establish a community.
Parents and caregivers deserve advocacy. PACT is a community dedicated to supporting working parents and caregivers in any season of their childrearing journey.
Providing a person-first community for employees who want to prioritize their mental well-being, share best practices, and foster connection with likeminded individuals.
Doing Right and Giving Back
Philanthropy at Johnson Controls
The Johnson Controls Foundation was created in 1952 with the philanthropic focus to support the communities where our employees live and work. In the last decade alone, the foundation has provided more than $77 million in support to various charitable organizations.
Sponsorships and events
We sponsor events such as galas and luncheons, advocating for the nonprofit organizations that are important to our employees.
Putting students FIRST
We provide support to FIRST Robotics teams which are led by Johnson Controls employee volunteers.
Matching gifts
We match employee donations to organizations that build safe, smart, and sustainable communities around the globe.
Taking care of our own with scholarships
We’re committed to advancing the education of our employees’ children by providing scholarships to students who display academic achievement, leadership, and civic involvement.
Partnering with community colleges
In 2021, we launched a major philanthropic investment in North American community colleges. Every year, a group of ten community colleges receives a significant, renewable grant for the purpose of supporting underserved students interested in the HVAC, fire, and security industries.
When our employees volunteer, WeGive
WeGive is Johnson Controls’ signature global volunteer program that ties corporate philanthropy to eligible organizations where our employees volunteer. When employees volunteer and track time through our portal, a corporate contribution of $10 USD per hour is sent to eligible organizations.
