POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join the JCI Team. This role is well-suited for an early-career professional with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline who is eager to build expertise across core quality systems, production support, and continuous improvement. The QA Engineer will work alongside experienced quality professionals to maintain our ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System, support non-conformance resolution, drive measurable reductions in scrap and rework, and sustain a culture of quality on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, including document control, records management, and internal audit participation.
  • Create, revise, and validate controlled documents such as work instructions, SOPs, inspection plans, and quality forms in accordance with document control procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation, coordination, and response activities for internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
  • Maintain and track calibration schedules for measurement and test equipment; coordinate with external calibration laboratories as needed.

Non-Conformance & Corrective / Preventive Actions

  • Identify, document, and disposition non-conforming materials and products through the NCR process; participate in Material Review Board activities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using structured methodologies (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track CAPA records through closure, validate effectiveness of implemented actions, and communicate status to quality leadership.
  • Raise preventive action requests based on risk assessments, audit findings, and trend data to proactively eliminate potential failures.

Cost & Waste Reduction

  • Collect, analyse, and report on material and in-process scrap data; develop Pareto analyses and lead improvement initiatives to drive measurable reductions.
  • Monitor and report on rework events; identify systemic drivers and participate in targeted reduction projects in collaboration with production and engineering.
  • Track and maintain First Pass Yield (FPY) metrics for assigned production lines as well as communicate trends and support improvement activities.
  • Contribute to Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) analysis by collecting internal failure cost data and supporting management reporting.

Production Floor Support

  • Provide real-time quality support to production teams, including responding to quality holds, performing product inspections, and making disposition recommendations.
  • Partner with production supervisors and operators to reinforce quality standards and promote a first-time-quality mindset.

Continuous Improvement & Standards

  • Participate in Kaizen workshops, lean and Six Sigma improvement projects targeting quality, efficiency, and waste elimination.
  • Apply basic Six Sigma and statistical tools (Pareto charts, control charts, run charts, histograms) to support data-driven decision making.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a quality assurance, quality engineering, or manufacturing engineering role (internship and co-op experience considered).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Familiarity with quality tools: root cause analysis, FMEA, control plans, Pareto charts, and basic statistical methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with quality or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a disciplined, data-driven approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear technical documents and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification (or equivalent coursework).
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, TPM, or Value Stream Mapping.
  • Experience with non-conformance management or CAPA software
  • Familiarity with SPC software or statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP).
  • Internship or co-op experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
