Our product line includes large-scale equipment such as air handling units and modular data centers. We currently operate manufacturing facilities in:

  • Edmonton

  • Sherwood Park

  • Nisku

This is a Monday - Friday office position, with possibility of Hybrid setup.

Summary 

The EDE Mechanical Designer/drafter is responsible for creating, modifying, and managing detailed 2D and 3D models used for engineering, architectural, or productdevelopment projects. This role supports project engineers and senior designers by translating concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Produce and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as Inventor, Creo, Revit or similar tools. 

  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design notes to develop accurate technical documentation. 

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other designers to ensure design intent is fully captured. 

  • Maintain drawing accuracy through version control, documentation updates, and adherence to drafting standards ASME Y14. 

  • Prepare layouts, assemblies, detail drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs) as required. 

  • Conduct basic design calculations or checks to validate dimensions and tolerances. 

  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently. 

  • Support the development of manufacturing, construction, or fabrication packages. 

  • Identify design issues and propose practical solutions to improve manufacturability or constructability. 

  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements. 

Required Qualifications 

  • College diploma in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology, or a related field  

  • 2–5 years of professional experience in CAD drafting or design.  

  • 2-5 years of experience supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Proficiency in Inventor & Creo 

  • Strong understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards (GD&T if applicable). 

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering documentation. 

  • Solid knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, or construction practices relevant to Manufacturing. 

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision. 

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with 3D modeling, assemblies, and parametric design. 

  • Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Vault, Windchill, SolidWorks PDM). 

  • Exposure to simulation tools (FEA, CFD) or rendering software. 

  • Experience working in industries such as manufacturing, architecture, aerospace, automotive, or product design. 

  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, design technology, engineering technology, or related field. 

Soft Skills 

  • Strong problemsolving mindset. 

  • Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives. 

  • Organized, methodical approach to documentation and revisions. 

  • Willingness to learn new tools, standards, and workflows. 

  • Create fabrication drawings with weld symbols, machining notes, and GD&T. 

  • Work closely with shop floor teams to resolve manufacturability issues. 

  • Build parametric models, assemblies, and exploded views. 

  • Support prototyping and testing activities.
