Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure complete safety and EHS compliance during installation, testing, and commissioning of chillers, chiller electrical works, and Chiller Plant Manager (HMI/PLC-based control systems).
Conduct site safety audits, hazard identification, risk assessments (HIRA), and method statement preparation and reviews as necessary specifically for:
Chiller lifting and placement
Electrical panel installation, cabling, and terminations
Coordinate with customer and project engineer/ manager for ensuring approval of SWMS/ HIRA from customer/ consultant on time.
Oversee safe execution of work involving:
HT/LT electrical connections to chillers
Installation of junction boxes and cable termination
Control wiring for PLC/HMI-based systems
Integration with auxiliary equipment (pumps, cooling towers, VFDs, sensors, actuators)
Monitor adherence to LOTO (Lockout–Tagout) as necessary, work-at-height safety, confined space safety, hot-work permits, and other statutory EHS procedures at site.
Verify that contractors follow approved EHS plans, PTW (Permit to Work) systems, and equipment installation safety protocols.
Investigate any incidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions; prepare reports and enforce corrective/preventive actions.
Conduct toolbox talks and safety training sessions for technicians, riggers, electricians, and controls engineers working on chiller projects.
Ensure compliance with IS standards, electrical safety norms, mechanical installation safety codes, and company EHS policies.
Coordinate with project managers, chiller OEM teams, electrical engineers, PLC/HMI technicians, and site representatives to integrate safety into daily installation activities.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Safety) or relevant discipline.
Minimum 5 years of EHS/Safety experience in HVAC installation projects—preferably involving chillers, AHUs, and electrical/control system installation.
Strong understanding of:
Chiller installation safety
Electrical safety for panels, cables, VFDs, and control systems
PLC/HMI-based Chiller Plant Manager or BMS-equivalent systems
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, IS/IEC safety standards, and statutory EHS requirements.
Ability to develop and implement safety procedures for heavy equipment installation, electrical works, and automation/control systems.
Strong communication, reporting, incident investigation, and coordination skills.
