Job Description - Plant Project Manager
What you will do:
Supporting Johnson Controls’ Data Center Solutions group, you will support the Project Manager in gathering equipment, resources, and information to implement upcoming projects. You will also maintain budgets and work schedules and participate in shareholder meetings while ensuring all deadlines for certain projects are met.
How you will do it:
Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements as needed.
Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions.
Plan and manage team goals, project schedules and new information.
Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.
Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and
Stored.
Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting
minutes and emails.
Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.
Other duties as assigned.
General Roles & Responsibilities:
Act as the main point of contact between stakeholders and the project team
Define project scope by working with stakeholders to establish the project objectives and success criteria
Develop a detailed project plan/schedule outlining tasks, timelines, resources and milestones
Identify, acquire and manage required project resources
Determine tools needed to effectively complete project tasks
Responsible for leading the project team and ensuring all members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities
Identify potential risks that could impact the project and work with the project team to develop strategies to mitigate or manage the identified risks
Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the project team
Facilitate regular status meetings with project team members and stakeholders when necessary
Oversee the execution of tasks, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
Monitor progress against the project plan, identifying any deviations and addressing them promptly.
Ensure that project deliverables meet the required standards and quality.
Keep stakeholders informed about project status, changes, and issues.
Prepare and present regular reports on project progress, risks, and performance.
Maintain accurate project documentation for reference and compliance.
Quickly address any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Estimate project costs and develop a budget.
Monitor, track and control project expenses to stay within budget.
Provide regular updates on financial status to stakeholders.
Ensure all project deliverables are completed and meet the project objectives and receive approval from stakeholders to close the project.
Conduct a post-project review to evaluate what went well and what could be improved
Ensure that all project knowledge is transferred to relevant stakeholders or teams for future reference.
Silent-Aire Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
Single Point Accountability (SPA) for Project
Customer Report Out at Launch:
POC daily completion
Units wrapped tracker against daily target
Labor allocation – needs vs actual (weekly is fine)
Internal Responsibilities:
Lead Project kick-off
Confirm / Track MERP adherence
Lead Weekly project sync utilizing Project Plan (Smartsheet, Excel or MS Project)
Lead any major outsourcing activities with JCI Procurement team
Lead any plant line moves (between buildings, etc)
Ensure the following core documents are complete / available to team on-time:
Inspection Test Plan (ITP) – PM SPA
APQP Workbook (DFMEA, PFMEA, PFD, CP) – Engineering / Quality SPA
Engineering Construction Package – Engineering SPA
BOM – Engineering SPA
Order Entry (OE) input & review – OE Team SPA
Audit hours & material adherence (financial focus)
What we look for
Required:
Travel may be required to job sites on occasions including extended overnights, before/after normal work hours, and weekends
Occasional travel to field worksite locations may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Occasional travel is required, including international travel. Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain a passport
2+ years of direct work experience in construction projects or project coordination
Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Team-management and leadership skills
Documentation management and ability to use project management tools
Attention to details even under pressure
Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
