We are looking for a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to lead initiatives that establish and sustain a stable, efficient production flow. This role focuses on applying Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies while developing and optimizing machines and equipment for the production floor. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving and process improvement skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of stable production flows using Lean principles and CI tools.
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for waste reduction, efficiency improvements, and cost savings.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), root cause analysis, and standard work.
  • Develop, design, and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes to support production requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, and engineering) to enhance operational performance.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and ensure production readiness.
  • Establish and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor production performance metrics (OEE, yield, downtime) and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and implement long-term corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Train and mentor production staff on Lean tools and improved manufacturing practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in designing, developing, or modifying manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with production line optimization and process stabilization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), or equivalent.
  • Experience with automation, industrial equipment, or robotics.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for equipment design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, takt time, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Experience with PLCs or control systems is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Hands-on mindset with a focus on practical implementation on the shop floor.
  • Continuous learning attitude and drive for operational excellence.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $67,000 - $95,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that will take into account volume and margin on a project, quarterly, and annual basis. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and
experiences that exceed the typical profile. If you believe your background warrants consideration beyond the stated range, we encourage you to apply. To support an efficient and fair hiring process, we may use technology assisted tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to help identify and evaluate candidates. All hiring decisions are ultimately made by human reviewers. For details, please visit the About Us tab on the Johnson Controls Careers site at https://jobs.johnsoncontrols.com/about-us.
