About this opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter with a “can do” approach and solid I.T. systems skills to join our Traffic and Transportation division to provide operational support to the NSW Operations Manager and the Software team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in infrastructure support who thrives on maintaining stable, secure environments, and continuously improving core systems for our customers.

In this role, you will be working very closely with the Project Delivery team to administer and support all facets of IT infrastructures. This hands-on role is suited to a motivated individual who is energetic and keen to learn new skills as part of our growing team in Rydalmere. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your I.T. skills with the potential to learn other areas.

How you will do it:

• System Management:

  • Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Ubuntu & WIN OS), VMs 

  • Maintenance: Regularly maintain and update systems, including OS & Software patches and upgrades at night for PROD systems 

  • Document and Seek Approval: For any change to the PROD system, document the steps, present the change and seek approval

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency 

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to platform, software, and network problems 

  • OS Hardening: Hardening of the OS to a reputable standard

  • Weekly Stats: Collect and record the statistics (CPU, RAM and Disk Space Usage) from the VMs on a weekly basis

• Security:

  • Security Implementation: Implement and maintain security measures at the OS level

  • Security Response: Respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities

• Applications:

  • Kubernetes Cluster Management (upgrading, performance monitoring, troubleshooting)

  • PostgreSQL Database Cluster Management

  • MongoDB Cluster Management

  • Prometheus and Grafana experience

  • Zabbix experience

• Ad-Hoc Tasks:

  • Application Testing: Assist the team with Software Testing, when requested

  • Testing Records: Document the testing results and capture the screenshots

  • Review Documents: Assist reviewing the documents, when requested

  • On-Call Support: 24 x 7 on-call support, when requested

What we look for:

• 5 years of experience as Systems Administrator

• Degree in Computer Science

• Experience managing 50+ Virtual Machines – Production and Non-production environments
