🔧 Top Technical Skills for Chiller Mechanics

  • Advanced HVAC/R Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, especially chilled water systems.

  • Chiller Diagnostics & Repair: Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining centrifugal, screw, scroll, and absorption chillers.

  • Electrical & Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to read schematics, diagnose electrical faults, and repair mechanical components.

How will you do it:

  • Perform routine maintenance on chiller systems to maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency

  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on boilers, chillers, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in chiller systems using knowledge of refrigeration principles and electrical schematics

  • Responsible for chiller/BAS (Building Automation System) integration

  • Perform start-up procedures, troubleshooting, and tear down/rebuild of chiller units

  • Mentor other technicians on various topics related to chiller maintenance and repair

What we look for 

  • Must be a member or willing to join a local Union.  

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with air-cooled and/or water-cooled chillers or large rooftop ducted units, along with strong HVAC and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

  • You will work with local market technicians and when necessary, provide on the job training.

  • Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.  

  • Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.  

  • Commitment to Safety

  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, good driving record and valid driver's license. 

Not Required but Our Ideal Candidate Would Have:

  • Journeyman or equivalent work/military experience

  • Solid knowledge of HVAC systems or water chillers

  • Universal EPA refrigerants license
