Fire Engineering Lead– Malaysia

What will you do:

Responsible for designing, testing, and commissioning Fire Alarm and Fire Fighting systems ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, project management, sales, procurement and customer to ensure the technical and commercial objectives are met for all assigned projects.

How you will do it:

• Develop designs for fire alarm and firefighting systems (sprinkler systems, fire pumps, hydrants, gaseous system etc.) based on project requirements and compliance with local and international codes (e.g., NFPA, BOMBA, ISO regulations).
• Prepare hydraulic calculations, detailed engineering drawings, system layouts, specifications and select equipment.
• Coordinate with customers, consultants, suppliers, Govt authorities (BOMBA), subcontractors and vendors for design, testing, commissioning and approvals.  
• Plan and execute testing and commissioning activities for fire alarm and firefighting systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving issues during system installation and testing phases.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reports and documentation as per project requirements.
• Identify, mitigate technical and commercial risks throughout the project life cycle from design till handover to customer.
• Provide technical guidance and training for the team members and clients.
• Provide value engineering to improve overall margin.
• Estimate engineering schedule, headcount and cost to support sales team.
• Technical feasibility of the solution and design proposed by the sales team.  
• Track KPI and improve the performance of the engineering team – On Time Delivery, Engineering Cycle Time, Quality, and Utilization
• Acquire required certification and skills

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/ electrical engineering /Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing testing, and commissioning firefighting and fire alarm systems for Malaysia market.
• Professional certifications in fire alarm system design and commissioning standards (NFPA, BOMBA, NICET etc.)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
• Strong project management and coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across Malaysia
• Background should include the ability to successfully handle multiple challenges, prioritize responsibilities and effectively lead matrix organization
• Ability to create various MIS reports and presentations.
