Job Description

Are you passionate about building strong customer relationships and driving business growth? We are looking for a skilled Business Development Manager to join our Fire Detection team in the Nordics.

In this key role, you will report directly to the Global Business Development Leader, with a manager based in Spain. You will be based in one of the Nordic countries (preferably Denmark or Sweden) and collaborate closely with local Fire Detection teams to help them achieve their business objectives—creating demand from the specification stage of relevant projects.

Our open-minded culture fosters both international success and a strong local team spirit. Weekly status meetings and close team collaboration ensure you are always connected and supported.

Main Responsibilities

Your primary goal in this role will be to identify and develop solutions, define vertical markets, and seek new business opportunities. You will develop strategic initiatives with high-profile customers such as end users, consultants, contractors, and architects & engineers. Building and nurturing long-term customer relationships, you will promote the demand for our Fire Detection products across all market segments.

Expanding brand awareness within your territory will be a significant part of your daily activities. You will prepare and deliver high-quality technical seminars, presentations, and product demonstrations to consultants, developers, and end users—recommending optimal solutions for their projects. A strong technical background is therefore essential.

How You Will Succeed

As a Business Development Manager, you will leverage your in-depth technical knowledge of Fire Detection products, supporting the team, consultants, developers, and end users with design and specification.

You will work closely with R&D, Training, Product Management, and Technical Support to ensure proposals and feature requests are technically sound and meet customer needs, in line with Johnson Controls, Inc. product strategy.

You will create and maintain technical and marketing tools to support clients with both existing and new products.

To enhance forecast accuracy, you will maintain records of target opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company-approved databases.

You are a proactive hunter, driven to develop and strengthen customer relationships. Self-motivated and independent, you enjoy the challenge of driving growth in your territory.

Your perseverance, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities will help you succeed in this dynamic environment.

What We Look For

  • Significant technical sales or business development experience in fire detection products
  • Hands-on experience with fire detection systems design (mandatory)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of fire detection brands
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, able to influence all levels and secure product specifications from end users, consultants, and installers
  • Experience in strategic planning, marketing, and market research
  • Strong prospecting skills with the ability to identify key decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Proactive, able to work independently as an individual contributor, while collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams
  • Team-player mindset—collaboration is key to success in this role
  • Flexible to travel regularly across the country (25–50% of your time)
  • Unquestionable integrity and ethics
  • Creative, solution-oriented thinker with a can-do, results-driven attitude

Additional Information

Johnson Controls Denmark does not provide relocation assistance. Applicants must hold a valid work permit for Denmark or Sweden. If you live close to one of our offices, we can offer you a designated office space.

You should expect to travel to customers approximately 25–50% of your working time, primarily within the Nordics.

  • Competitive salary, pension, and insurance package
  • Challenging and varied work in an evolving and exciting field
