What you will do

The Strategic Accounts Project Innovation Leader will support the engineering function for Strategic Accounts in Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) BSNA.

Maintain proficiency in various building domains, business verticals, engineering best practices, and JCI processes and tools.

Align customer requirements and engineering specifications with JCI offerings, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to establish JCI as the basis of design.
Implement customer standard design requirements and processes within the JCI organization.
Support the development and execution of enterprise-wide engineering practices, content, and solutions for strategic accounts while driving initiatives to enhance sales and account engagement.
Assist in developing strategic initiatives and enterprise-level estimates for strategic account opportunities.
Collaborate closely with strategic customers and JCI field organization to ensure alignment with defined strategies.
Be highly motivated and results-oriented, capable of clear communication and leading by influence.
Develop and sustain high-level relationships within strategic account clients.
Work effectively with Regional and Branch teams.

How you will do it
Support the strategic account sales team by engaging in pre and post-sales activities related to building systems and project opportunities.
This position will work across multiple engineering/design teams and locations to promote consistency and standard practices across the enterprise while enhancing engineering efficiency.
Provide subject matter expertise in building technology, including analytics, optimization algorithms, server and network design, cybersecurity, system software suites, and hardware engineering, along with high-level technical support for field design requirements and implementation challenges.
Align JCI’s product and technology roadmap with strategic customers’ technology visions.
Offer sales and technical support to the field organization for the implementation of enterprise-level initiatives and engineered solutions, with occasional high-level in-field support required.
Create and maintain communication platforms for transferring design standards to centralized engineering and field organizations, focusing on standardization, efficiency, and quality

  • Coordinate with strategic customer stakeholders, including engineering, construction, and mechanical firms, to integrate JCI as the basis of design into requirements and specifications.

  • Develop initiatives to address and resolve identified strategic account needs, coordinating their field implementation and providing KPI reporting.

  • Facilitate the resolution of escalated engineering issues.

  • Assist strategic customers in maintaining their Central Servers; address system performance, user credentialing and access, and patching issues and requirements, including RDP needs such as file transfers and database up/downloads.

  • Provide JCI’s field organization with access to account databases, software, and standard documentation, ensuring all data is updated and accessible.

  • Provide design documentation for user management, disaster recovery, standard naming conventions, and database details.

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

  • At least 10 years of experience in HVAC engineering or operations.

  • Experience in program management, project management, and process improvement.

  • Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to drive results within a complex matrixed organization.

  • Capable of managing conflict, driving change, and demonstrating a sense of urgency.

  • Proficient in Microsoft tools such as PowerBI, SharePoint, SQL, and Office365.

  • Proficient in JCI engineering tools for estimating, engineering, and commissioning.

  • Strong technical knowledge of JCI technologies, including AHUs, Chillers, and VRF systems.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
