Job Description

Are you passionate about product safety and interested in joining a global company that prioritizes sustainability? Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer to join our Engineering team in Aarhus, Denmark.

As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer at Johnson Controls, you will lead and manage regulatory compliance and agency certification efforts for our products. This role ensures that all products meet relevant safety standards, directives, and regulations throughout the entire product lifecycle—from initial concept and design, through testing and production, to ongoing product support.

You will work closely with cross-functional design, engineering, and manufacturing teams, as well as external certification bodies, while independently driving compliance projects to completion. Your expertise in certification processes (UL, CE, UKCA) and regulations will be critical to achieving and maintaining necessary approvals, ensuring our products can be confidently marketed and used worldwide.

You will join our engineering team in Aarhus (Holme), where good collaboration, trust, and employee well-being are among our top priorities. We also value a sense of fun and humor, knowing that a positive and enjoyable work environment fosters great teamwork and results.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead regulatory compliance planning, strategy, and execution for new product development projects and sustaining engineering efforts.
  • Drive product lifecycle management around safety compliance during the new product development process (NPI).
  • Interpret and apply relevant safety standards, directives, and regulations to Johnson Controls' products.
  • Own and manage the end-to-end agency certification process, including compliance planning, documentation preparation, lab testing coordination, and obtaining final approvals.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, hazard analyses, and compliance checks for products.
  • Represent Johnson Controls and influence standards development on key technical committees (e.g., IEC/EN in EMEA, UL in NA).

What We Look For:

  • Bachelor's degree or university degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in driving product safety and regulatory compliance.
  • 5 years of related industry experience (Product safety and/or risk analysis compliance)
  • Deep understanding of certification requirements and processes, particularly for building controls and HVAC applications.
  • Working knowledge of IEC/EN EMC standards and testing
  • Ability to manage product compliance and certifications from concept to launch.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience in building automation systems or HVAC control product development is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with international certification schemes (CE, UKCA) and quality management systems (ISO 9001) is also an advantage.

Travel: Up to 10 % for project support, factory visits, customer sites, and coordination with test labs (primarily in Europe).

What We Offer:

  • Attractive salary package, optional benefits program, and health insurance.
  • 11% paid pension.
  • Employment in a growth-driven company with a history spanning more than 130 years.
  • Be part of the green, energy-efficient cooling and heat pump industry.
  • In-house production.
  • Excellent canteen and exercise facilities.
  • Well-established employee associations.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Strong opportunities for education and career development (including access to 5,000 e-learning programs).
  • Generous maternity/paternity benefits, including the child's first sick day, as well as a global network for parents with young children.
  • High security standards (we work with high-performance teams).
