Lead Front-End Developer / Technical Analyst
Position Overview:
Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Front-End Developer / Technical Analyst to join our Marketing IT team. This leadership role is critical in shaping the future of JCI’s digital presence. You will lead front-end development initiatives, provide architectural guidance, and mentor a team of developers while driving innovation and performance across our global web ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own the Front-End Strategy: Define and drive the front-end architecture, technology stack, and development standards across all enterprise websites, ensuring alignment with business goals and digital transformation initiatives. Hands on experience on Sitecore SXA with a multisite and multi-lingual web inventory with multiple themes and UI/UX.
• Lead End-to-End Front-End Delivery: Oversee the complete lifecycle of front-end development—from requirements gathering and design collaboration to implementation, testing, deployment, and optimization.
• Architect Scalable Solutions: Design and implement scalable, modular, and reusable front-end frameworks and component libraries that support multi-site, multi-lingual, and multi-device experiences on various Sitecore versions specifically on SXA.
• Oversee User Experience: Collaborate closely with UX/UI teams to translate design systems into pixel-perfect, accessible, and responsive interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Integrate with Enterprise Platforms: Ensure seamless integration of front-end components with CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore), marketing automation tools, analytics, personalization engines, and third-party APIs.
• Performance & Optimization Leadership: Establish and enforce performance benchmarks, implement best practices for speed and SEO, and lead initiatives to continuously improve front-end performance.
• Governance & Code Quality: Define and enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and implement CI/CD pipelines to maintain high-quality, maintainable, and secure front- end codebases.
• Mentorship & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of front-end developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between design, back-end, DevOps, QA, and business teams to ensure cohesive and timely delivery of web solutions.
• Innovation & Technology Leadership: Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate emerging
technologies (e.g., GenAI, headless CMS, JAMstack), and drive innovation in front-end capabilities.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Evaluate and manage third-party vendors, review external code contributions, and ensure alignment with internal standards and strategic objectives.
• Accessibility & Compliance: Ensure all front-end implementations meet accessibility (WCAG) standards, cookie compliance, and enterprise security requirements.
• Analytics & Insights: Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure proper tagging, data collection, and actionable insights are embedded into the front-end experience.
• Incident Management & Support: Lead the resolution of front-end issues in production environments, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 12+ years of professional experience in front-end development, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or architect role.
• Hands on experience on Sitecore SXA with a multisite and multi-lingual web inventory with
multiple themes and UI/UX.
• Expert-level proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Strong understanding of web performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design principles.
• Experience with enterprise CMS platforms, especially Sitecore, and integration with
marketing automation tools.
• Proven track record of leading front-end teams and delivering large-scale digital projects.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems like Git.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
