Johnson Controls (JCI) is a global leader in building technologies and solutions. Our team specializes in large-scale construction, engineering and renovations/Upgrades on P3 projects throughout Canada and the USA, focusing on the high-level planning, design, and execution of project scope of works as well supporting our Facility Management teams operations.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager with Institutional construction/management experience to lead the development, execution, and management of projects as assigned within our Performance Based Infrastructure Portfolio.
What will you do:
As the P3 Project Manager you will:
• Oversee project from startup to completion, manage commissioning processes and support operations and maintenance across various project sites within highly complex long term Operational Agreement.
• Interpret and review design drawings while coordinating with architects, engineers and other stakeholders.
• Provide operational support to our Facility Management teams with regards to engineering and project management design and implementation.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget and to industry and project specifications standards
• Maintain and manage a projects list, quote projects, and execute projects.
This role requires excellent communication, strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
How will you do it
Project Management Initiation
• Developing a scope of work for various projects or reviewing the scope of work provided by the Authorities for constructability, ranging in size and complexity.
• Work as a team member to develop initial project budgets, and track project costing throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborate closely with Clients, architects, engineers and construction teams to align project goals, schedules and deliverables.
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders (internal teams, external vendors and clients) for seamless project execution.
Project Management - Startup through Commissioning and Handover
• Lead project kick-off sessions defining project goals, roles and responsibilities and key stakeholder decision makers. Set project expectations.
• Interact with the Design team and Owner’s Representatives.
• Manage defined project meetings, project changes and ensure project deliverables are met.
• Develop and implement commissioning checklists and protocols with contractors, engineers and suppliers and stakeholders
• Working with the Consulting Team assuring, testing and commissioning systems to ensure functionality meets design specifications.
Quality & Safety Compliance
• Adhere to industry standards and local, state, provincial and federal building codes.
• Promote a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
What we look for
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field or equivalent experience.
• Trade certifications in Mechanical and/or Electrical fields with Supervisory experience on Institutional projects would be a benefit.
• 5+ years of hands-on project management experience working in Social Infrastructure and Institutional construction with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with project design and management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, BIM) or similar tools.
• Demonstrated knowledge of building systems, codes, and commissioning processes.
• Strong understanding of Project Management process and methodologies.
Project Management Expertise
• Strong ability to develop project scopes, manage schedules, and control budgets.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams during startup and commissioning.
Soft Skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
• Strong leadership and team-building aptitude, with a focus on mentorship and professional development.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making under tight deadlines.
Additional Requirements
• Willingness to travel domestically to project sites as needed.
