Are you seeking an opportunity to take ownership of high-value technical projects—ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards? Then read on to discover what Johnson Controls has to offer!

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Contracts Manager (Building Solutions) to manage the financial and contractual aspects of our Building Solutions projects in Norway.

In this role, you will take charge of both the financial and contractual management of advanced projects within building automation, HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration), and BMS/CEP (Building Management Systems / Central Energy Plants), as well as energy management and digital building technologies. You will oversee both complex, large-scale new-build and retrofit installations and smaller upgrade and service projects in commercial and industrial facilities.

You will be based in Oslo, reporting to our Head of Commercial – UK&I and Nordics, and working closely with project and sales teams across Norway.

What you will do:

As part of our pre-contract and delivery team, you will manage the financial and contractual execution of advanced building automation, HVAC&R, and BMS/CEP projects across Norway—from early tendering to project close-out—ensuring all delivery targets for time, cost, and quality are met.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Oversee quantity surveying and commercial management from contract award to completion across multiple projects within HVAC&R, BMS/CEP, and building automation.

  • Provide financial and contractual advice to stakeholders, including assessment of commercial risks.

  • Monitor and control project changes to ensure successful financial outcomes while minimizing risks.

  • Ensure projects meet financial and contractual objectives as part of our overall growth strategy.

  • Manage contracts, accounts, and negotiations for timely and profitable outcomes.

  • Resolve issues to bring projects back on track regarding budgets and deadlines.

  • Oversee change management, drive process improvements, and identify claims or opportunities.

  • Review contracts for compliance, manage scope changes, and support procurement processes.

  • Assess and mitigate risks and address counterclaims from subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Conduct measurements and valuations, ensuring payment is aligned with project progress.

How you will excel:

As a Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Contracts Manager, you will thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment involving multiple stakeholders—across disciplines such as automation technology, HVAC&R, and large-scale centralized energy projects. You adeptly handle ambiguity and make informed decisions to manage and steer change. With your strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills, you manage multiple priorities with ease. Your intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning drive both your own and your team’s development, and you appreciate the value of cross-disciplinary collaboration.

What we look for:

  • Based in Norway with fluency in Norwegian and professional proficiency in English; able to communicate technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Contracts Manager within building automation, HVACR, BMS/CEP, or technical installations sector.

  • Sound understanding of commercial and financial risk—especially in complex, interdisciplinary technical projects.

  • Familiarity with the administration of various contract forms, including:

    • Norwegian NS 8405:2008 and NS 8407:2011

    • Ideally, some knowledge of the FIDIC suite (Red, Yellow, Silver, Green, and Pink books)

What we offer:

  • An exciting and varied workday in an international company.

  • You will work in a modern and newer office in an environment designed to support both teamwork and individual focus, as well as access to an on-site gym and canteen.

  • Great opportunities for personal development, access to extensive training resources and on-the-job development opportunities.

  • You will be part of a supportive and including collaborative working environment, where we operate as one team to achieve shared goals and foster personal and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary, pension & insurance scheme.

  • Support/reimbursement for training fees & phone arrangements.

  • Flexible working arrangements.
