What you will do 

You will be responsible for all operations for the Johnson Controls (JCI) Lubbock distribution center supporting the Fire Suppression Products (FSP/ Water Mechanical  product business units. You will promote a performance-based culture, passionate about providing our customers with an outstanding experience. You will also partner with peers in Manufacturing, Inventory Control and Quality to build solutions and processes that yield perfect shipments, stable inventory levels, and optimal efficiency.   

 

How you will do it  

Management  

  • Strong Safety Leadership 

  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture; proactively identify hazards and lead corrective action initiatives. 

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, regulatory, and company safety standards across distribution and logistics functions. 

  • Conduct routine safety audits, training, and risk assessments for all warehouse operations. 

  • Provide overall leadership of the distribution center (DC) 

  • Assist in the development and support of regional distribution strategies to achieve high service levels and efficient inventory placement.   

  • Directly impact business profitability and customer experience.   

  • Operational responsibility for end results, planning and finances/budget.  

  • Set policies and business strategy for the DC operation.  

 

Distribution & Logistics Operations 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of a multi-national distribution center, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and outbound logistics 

  • Ensure optimal flow of goods and materials to support global customer and production demand.  

  • Manage 3PL relationships and international freight operations to guarantee cost-effective and timely delivery.  

  • Drive inventory accuracy and control through structured processes and robust cycle count programs. 

  • Develop and manage inbound, outbound, returns, and value-added service processes to ensure the highest levels of on-time service, quality, and efficiency.   

  • Work seamlessly across multiple functions within the organization to understand requirements and lead change management in order to deliver enterprise-wide programs.   

  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of customer needs.  

  • Identify and interpret changes in internal and external customer requirements.  

  • Assist in developing meaningful metrics regarding warehouse activity and performance.   

  • Own configuration, optimization, and continuous enhancement of WMS workflows. 

  • Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and implement system improvements. 

  • Use WMS data analytics to improve operational visibility, labor efficiency, and material accuracy. 

 

 

Project Management, Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving 

  • Lead the local deployment of Lean Management methodologies including the identification, development and implementation of Continuous Process Improvement, Kaizens, and Problem-Solving initiatives involving safety, quality, productivity, and other cross-functional opportunities.  

  • Lead development, maintenance, and optimization of PFEP data to ensure efficient material flow and storage strategies. 

  • Implement PFEP-driven improvements that reduce handling, improve throughput, and optimize warehouse layout. 

  • Lead lean initiatives including VSM (Value Stream Mapping), Kaizen, 5S, standard work, and waste reduction programs. 

  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (A3, 8D, root cause analysis) to resolve operational issues. 

  • Drive measurable improvements in throughput, cost, accuracy, and service levels. 

 

What we look for  

Required: 

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field.  

  • 7+ years of experience in distribution center or logistics operations, including multi-national operations.  

  • Demonstrated expertise in WMS platforms  

  • Strong experience with PFEP creation and management.  

  • Proven success implementing CI tools (Lean, VSM, Kaizen, 5 Whys, RCCA).  

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.  

  • Strong leadership experience managing teams in fast-paced operational environments. 

  • Familiarity with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) 

  • Ability to meet tight scheduling requirements easily adjust and shift priorities 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word 

 

Preferred: 

  • Start-up and Operational Stabilization experience 

  • Oracle JD Edwards Distribution Center module 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $124,000 - 145,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data). This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
