What you will do
You will provide guidance and assistance to the shop floor employees, supervisors and managers within all departments of the organization and will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, customers, and visitors and maintaining daily environmental compliance. You will implement plans based on recent safety audit results and will ensure that our Health and Safety management system is implemented to meet legislation requirements. Responsibilities also will include training employees in environmental, health and safety management best practices, assisting with hazard identification and control, development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing, and delivering safety training, providing day-to-day guidance and expert advice on a variety of topics.
How you will do it
Demonstrate leadership and provides direction to line management regarding the development and implementation of the organization’s environment, health and safety management system.
Provide on-floor guidance and mentorship to line management regarding safe work practices and behaviors.
Provide on-floor guidance and support for environmental compliance regarding waste management, Non-Title V Air permit conditions, and water discharge, and other programs as needed.
Complete and apply Hazard and Risk Assessments.
Incident investigation management including the identification of Root Cause Analysis and the suggestion of Corrective and Preventative actions.
Management of occupational injury claims including return to work planning.
Management OSHA 300-300A logs.
Perform audits on the organization’s Health and Safety Management System.
Conduct and facilitate employee orientations and training.
Maintain records of employee safety training, and the efficacy of the programs.
Plan, organize, implement, oversee, and provide technical assistance for projects to resolve safety issues and reduce the risk of injury and occupational illness.
Keep abreast of latest development in the field of OSHA management systems by reviewing technical publications, attending technical conferences or professional society meetings, and discussion with industry representatives.
Provide technical environment, health, and safety informational support for employees and management.
Identify company safety, health or environmental compliance issues and create appropriate solutions.
Coordinate with management/Human Resources to ensure that unsafe employee behavior is corrected in a timely manner.
Work with new products and procedures to identify potential issues and ensure ongoing safety.
Circulate health, safety, and environmental awareness materials.
What we look for
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or a certificate in Health and Safety or an equivalent education and experience
Minimum of three (3) years of Environment, Health and Safety experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of current OSHA and EPA laws and regulations
Strong knowledge of state Environmental laws and regulations
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
Proficiency using Microsoft Office
Effective people skills, including negotiation and ability to influence without authority
Inductive reasoning skills to create workplace safety resolutions
Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help
Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to safety
Politically and culturally sensitive
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, local and government safety agencies
Must be available for 1st Shift Hours (Mon – Fri: 7AM-4PM/7:30AM-4:30PM/8AM-5PM) or Swing shift (10 am – 6 pm/11am-7pm/12PM – 8PM/1PM-9PM)
Must be available for a rotating On-Call schedule
Able to work in office, production, and outside conditions as needed
Preferred:
Professional designation such as CSP, ASP, GSP, CIH or a similar certification
OSHA 30-hour training for General Industry
HazWoper certification
DOT certification
RCRA certification
Experience in gathering and compilation of Health, Safety, and Environmental data and report preparation
Bilingual (Spanish)
