Senior Production Manager – 1st Shift

Johnson Controls’ Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian.

The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 950 employees. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.

THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN $8,000 SIGN ON BONUS, A TARGETED 15% ANNUAL INCENTIVE BONUS AS WELL AS RELOCATION ASSISTANCE.

What you will do

The Senior Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned production area is within JCI’s guidelines for safety, efficiency, profitability and quality of product and that assigned area is maintaining all required Quality, Production, Cost and Control of personnel; will be part of the “A” team of leaders and personnel who are focused on achieving continuous improvement via manufacturing a safe and healthy work environment; and, most importantly, is a valued team member of a best-in-class group dedicated to meeting all JCI operational requirements while assuring that all the JCI leadership Guidelines and Code of Ethics are fully met.

How you will do it

• Advise Production Supervisors assigned to area of control to achieve a continual awareness of safety, quality, efficiency and utilize teamwork and focus to ensure that all members feel involved and important to the success of the area.

• Ensure all activities meet JCI manufacturing and employee guidelines as well as meet all safety, quality and efficiency requirements assigned by local leadership.

• Lead team of Supervisors and support team members to meet daily, weekly and monthly production requirements and operational goals using Lean Manufacturing practices coupled with the use of continuous improvements activities.

• Promote an environment of inclusion and value to all members of their assigned team. 

• Ensure compliance with all JCI employee training and leadership guidelines.

• Drive the JCI manufacturing systems throughout the entire area assigned.

• Develop and drive real time problems solving methodology to promote a continuous improvement environment thru out assigned area of responsibility.

• Serve as a leader who uses and supports a total team mentality when dealing with issues, challenges and solutions with everyday activities in the plant.

What we look for

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Production Manager/Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment OR an Associate degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience working as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proficiency using MS Office Suite.

• Ability to work 1st shift.

Preferred:

• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience utilizing Lean tools to measure and improve the departments Key Business Drivers (i.e. VSM, SMED, 5s, TPM, Kaizen, etc.).
