Chiller Product Engineer

What you will do

Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Chiller Product Engineer based in our New Freedom. You will be a part of the global air-cooled chiller engineering team and will design and development new features or new options of current products, support production of existing products, lead and participate various engineering activities to resolve field technical issues, improve product reliability and support value analysis and value engineering.

How you will do it

• Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of air-cooled chiller products

• Experienced in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement new design ideas into the current product platform.

• Work closely with the design and drafting group in generating layout concepts and system configurations

• Supports the manufacturing of the product representing the design team through initiating and executing design changes. 

• Produces engineering/design documentation and compiles technical documents for use within the company

• Prepares and help executes test programs to verify performance and reliability of chiller components and systems

• Reviews and analyzes test data and provide input for design and troubleshooting.

• Applies regulatory codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME in product design

• Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing processes.

• Leads small engineering projects and communicate project status to internal and external customers.

• Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.

• Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%)

What you will need
Required

• BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)  

• 1+ years’ experience in a related field

• Experience in a design and product development environment

Preferred

• Knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers) Knowledge/experience in electrical engineering (electric  motor, motor control, electrical wiring)
