What you will do
The primary responsibility for this role is to support pre-sales engineering for Building Management System (BMS) System global projects as per country specific standards. You will be executing & supervising presales engineering and estimation activities in line with the codes and standards by keeping operational parameters within budget. Always maintain project quality and on-time delivery as per the front desk/sales expectation. Handle a team of 8 to 10 presales engineers with the technical ownership of the presales’ projects. Extensive knowledge about bill of material preparation, cost estimation to come up with competitive bid. Follow processes, maintain required quality standards and on time deliveries to ensure customer satisfaction.
How you will do it
You will have to work closely with your peers and team members in security domain presales engineering. You will be responsible for the following critical activities to deliver best-in-class solutions with your technical expertise.
- Analyze and review project inputs and specifications, effectively capturing project scope and understanding all requirements.
- Examine Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings and specifications to identify necessary HVAC equipment, dampers, and sensors.
- Participate in project kick-off and review meetings, documenting technical queries, compliance deviations, risk logs, and minutes of meetings.
- Adhere to standard estimation processes and guidelines to select optimal combinations of hardware, software, equipment, materials, and services for an accurate budget proposal.
- Create detailed bills of material, including the selection of sensors, control valves, dampers, airflow stations, and controllers.
- Develop Building Automation System (BAS) network architecture, ensuring it meets project specifications.
- Maintain a rigorous quality assurance process to deliver defect-free outcomes and ensure timely project completions.
- Ensure compliance in timesheet submissions and reviews for personal accountability and transparency.
- Ensure quality assurance, defect free deliverables, on time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
- Escalate issues in the right time, so as not to affect the project delivery schedule; any escalations with respect to scope-creep must be clearly backed up with evidences.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues in the early stage of the project.
- Ensure errors are monitored and take corrective action/preventive action to meet quality standards.
- Properly plan resources for each project.
- Monitor and control the agreed work scope against the project plan. Manage changes to the baselines through an adequate change management process.
- Support the team members as & when needed on technical aspects as well as on vendors and Subcon support follow-ups.
- Help the team to produce multiple solutions with technical and commercial differentiations.
- Explore ways and means to secure the projects and improve win-rate through market intelligence.
- Keep a record of the team's performance and ensure all KPIs (Utilization, OTD, Quality, Kaizen Counts, etc.) are met.
- Regularly work on the team's competency development to meet the customer's technological requirements.
- Ensure Time Tracker discipline and ISO processes adherence.
- Weekly/Monthly customer reporting for project progress.
- Approve Concur Expense submissions of the team members.
- Monitor and update the SFDC cases on time and keep handy customized reports to avoid any miss outs.
- Keep operational parameters at the desired level for all assigned projects.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement to form a high-performance culture in the team.
- Ensure active participation in the organization's employee engagement initiatives.
What we look for
- BE/ME (Electrical / Electronics / Electronics & Communication)
- Must have 15+ years of relevant experience in BMS domain.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including Chilled Water Systems, Cooling Towers, Primary & Secondary Pumping Systems, Hot Water Systems, and various types of Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), and Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems.
- Strong understanding of BMS architecture, including different types of Operator Workstations, Supervisory Controllers, Direct Digital Controllers (DDC), Sensors, and Actuators.
- Familiarity with various network protocols such as BACnet, LON, Modbus, OPC, and other relevant communication standards.
- Proficiency in wiring configurations for starters, field devices, safety interlocks, and control panels.
- Experience in engineering, installing, and commissioning HVAC & BMS systems for large-scale infrastructure projects such as pharmaceuticals, airports, commercial buildings, and hospitals.
- Proven experience in automation, including PLC programming and SCADA systems.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively.

Relevant experience in Building Automation Industry, BMS Design Engineering.
