What you will do

As the Project Team Leader leads the overall performance of Johnson Control’s Security Solutions projects as assigned.  Lead a team of technicians that travel up to 80% of the time, will need to structure, organize, and schedule team to work with operations in local markets across the USA. Must be a skilled and a technical leader within the security industry and have practical working experience in the electronic security industry.

How you will do it

Primary leadership for the overall security installation, engineering and project activities for the security projects assigned.

Works with Johnson Controls Business Development, Project Development and Project Delivery Teams to identify and deliver program objectives. 

Coordinates the program development effort, development of the security project plan and supervising progress

Identifies actions required to be taken in the event of deviation from the project plan.

Adheres to standardized procedures and processes.  

Represents Johnson Controls Security Solutions and its interests to exceed customer satisfaction while meeting financial commitments.

Be self-motivated leading a team of technicians/Sub-contractors within an assigned project.

Manages risks and works with Project Delivery Teams to establish project recovery plans if required.

Responsible for safety program compliance.

Responsible to be forward thinking, alert, and reactive to business practices rendering poor or damaging results (i.e. inadequate schedules, delinquent/inappropriate buy-out, submittal approval, invoice approval, staff, etc.)

Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements.

Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of assigned projects via operational and financial systems reporting.

Coordination with the Installation Managers for prioritizing to meet program objectives.

Manage and balance skills and the expectations of technician team to coincide with business needs.

Overall program asset management including project cost savings, progress billings and payables.

Overall responsibility for the project scope management (planning, definition, verification, change order) process.

Provides updates to local leadership on current and forecasted performance.

Evaluates and reviews overall subcontracting strategies and savings.

Maintains relationships with the customers and or Principals of the major subcontractors.

Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

Meet or exceed the sold estimated margin dollars.

Provide bi-monthly revenue forecast updates within the forecast tool.

Provide submittals and blue lines.

Provide accurate documentation for billing cycle for each project; to include AIA when required.

What we look for

Required

  • Requires 2 to 5 years of direct experience in installation or construction within the Security Building Installation and Construction industry.

  • Proven advanced security installation/construction skills and ability to work/manage large security projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex challenges simultaneously, often requiring cross-disciplinary knowledge and problem-solving skills.

  • Successful history managing large-scale, complex security projects while meeting strict deadlines and adhering to budget constraints.

  • Must possess the skills to oversee and execute the full security installation and construction process—from conceptual development through final implementation—including coordination, supervision, and project management.

  • Strong understanding of contract terms and project accounting, with effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exhibit proficiency in speaking to a variety of audiences. Able to lead and direct diverse teams. Must possess personality traits that enable the successful collaboration with Owners, Architects, Engineers, etc., who are involved in the planning and design process.

  • Familiarity with standard construction industry software, including MS Project for scheduling and project reporting tools. Proficient in using personal computers and applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Visio, and navigating basic Windows environments.

  • Good written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to travel up to 90%

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,000-115,000 (Salary to be determined by the 
education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package.
