What will you do? 

The EHS Manager provides oversight and leadership for the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) function of the Manufacturing Operation business. Directs, supervises, and supports a team of Plant-level EHS professionals in the implementation of the EHS program and processes and their integration with new projects where required. Provides technical support on EHS matters to the plant and works with the EHS team to develop new processes, training, and related materials, update existing processes that address internal/external needs, and help achieve our EHS targets for the site. 

How will you do it? 

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction in the implementation of applicable EHS programs and processes specific to the operations, legislative requirements, and where appropriate new project specifications. 

  • Establishes and manages compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 targets.  

  • Supports and provides EHS professional review of incident investigations and corrective actions. 

  • Presents EHS program and performance data to Corporate and Plant Staff based on needs established by operations and new projects. 

  • Evaluate and analyze injuries and related trends at the plant and work directly with the operations team to establish root causes and associated preventative measures. 

  • Provides direction on the need and frequency for site surveys and audits, and either conducts the audits or works with the Regional EHS Manager to plan the level of audit support necessary. 

  • Maintains current knowledge of EHS industry best practices and technological developments and equipment to remain up to date on related systems, devices, and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize associated risks. 

  • Keeps current on regulatory requirements of EHS.  

  • Supervises Medical services to the employees and oversees occupational health campaigns. 

  • Responsible to administrate and perform savings projects related to Sustainability and Energy. 

  • Coordinate CTPAT certification with all stakeholders involved as well as all the security efforts needed. 

  • Develop planned inspections to identify unsafe conditions in the plant and environmental audits, report findings to management, corrective action request, accept or reject corrective action, closure validate, and replicate the same plan as applicable. 

  • Define plant objectives through the “Policy Deployment” process and promote the improvement of the performance metrics using JCMS tools. 

  • Ensure the plant becomes a benchmark site through the implementation and constant improvement of all the processes, tasks, and metrics required by the JCMS System for the EHS department. 

What are we looking for? 

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering. 

  • 6+ years of experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience with high hazard controls in a manufacturing environment. 

  • Proven ability to develop and drive a safety culture improvement plan. 

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office. 

  • Effective communication and organization skills. 

  • Strong customer service orientation. 

Preferred 

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or other related EHS certifications. 

  • Experience working with ISO management systems. 

  • Solid understanding and experience with behavior-based safety programs.
