Johnson Controls is hiring! We are seeking a Senior Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s global software assets and licenses, ensuring compliance, cost control, and efficient utilization of resources across regions. This role requires a strong background in software asset management processes, tools, and methodologies, with a focus on ServiceNow’s SAM module and related IT asset management platforms.
The Senior SAM Analyst will play a critical role in driving process improvements, implementing best practices, and fostering collaboration across global teams to ensure effective software asset lifecycle management. This position is remote, for candidates based in the US and are US citizens. How you will do it
Global Software Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of software assets across all regions, including procurement, deployment, usage tracking, optimization, and decommissioning.
Compliance & Audit Management: Ensure compliance with global software licensing agreements, mitigate risks of non-compliance, and support internal and external audits.
ServiceNow SAM Pro Management and Optimization: Leverage ServiceNow’s Software Asset Management (SAM) module to manage software licenses, optimization metrics, and compliance workflows across multiple regions.
Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce software spend globally through license optimization, usage analysis, and vendor negotiations.
Process Improvement: Develop and refine SAM policies, processes, and procedures to align with industry best practices, organizational goals, and regional regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze global software usage data to provide actionable insights, create dashboards, and report on compliance, cost savings, and usage trends across regions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams across regions to ensure alignment on global software asset management goals and initiatives.
Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with software vendors to stay informed on licensing updates, renewals, and contract negotiations across global operations.
What you will need
Required
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
5+ years of experience in software asset management, IT asset management, or related roles in a global organization.
Proven track record in managing software compliance, cost optimization, and SAM tool implementation across multiple regions.
Proficiency in global software asset management processes and tools, with a strong focus on ServiceNow’s SAM module.
Familiarity with IT Asset Management (ITAM) practices and frameworks, such as ITIL.
Knowledge of software licensing models, including perpetual licenses, subscriptions, and enterprise agreements.
Understanding of Licensing Terms: Strong understanding of software licensing terms and contractual agreements, including license entitlements, terms of use, and renewal conditions, with the ability to navigate regional licensing requirements.
Experience implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing ServiceNow’s asset data within the SAM Pro module.
Ability to create workflows, dashboards, and reports within ServiceNow.
Understanding of ServiceNow integration with third-party tools and data sources.
Strong aptitude for data analysis, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable insights globally.
Proficiency with Excel and data visualization tools for reporting and analysis.
Familiarity with software compliance frameworks, audits, and legal implications of licensing across various regions.
Experience with Software Audits: Proven experience in managing and supporting internal and external software audits, including preparing documentation and responding to audit requirements globally.
US citizenship
Preferred
IAITAM CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) or CITAM (Certified IT Asset Manager) certification.
Experience with other ITAM tools and platforms beyond ServiceNow.
Certification in ServiceNow Software Asset Management or ITIL.
Knowledge of emerging trends in software asset management and cloud-based licensing models.
Experience working in large, global organizations with complex software portfolios.
