Responsibility Level:
Under general direction plan and execute Li-ion electrochemistry cell development programs that support Li-Ion, HEV, PHEV and EV battery product development and production. The individual operates with a good working knowledge of Li-Ion batteries, the chemical and physical properties of cell components, and an aptitude for solving assigned problem. Competency in the experimental methods, related to Li-Ion battery materials, and interpretation of results using design of experiments highly desirable. Supervision of future support staff in applicable laboratory methods is anticipated.
Typical Duties:
* Lead Li-ion cell design including design validation builds, prototype builds, and production validation builds and testing. * Contribute to R&D Li-Ion development programs. * Lead development of cells specifications and performance standards * Contribute to development of materials specifications and performance standards * Contribute and support system design for costumer request * Support processing and quality monitoring of Li-ion electrode coating, cell assembly and filling, formation, and testing, that may include process modification and optimization. * Prepare detailed plans to track area performance and assure timely completion and achievement of project goals. * Keep abreast of developments and issues in subject technology to strengthen JCS' competitive position * Review published literature and patents * Maintain a current awareness through networking and appropriate conferences * Report on and evaluate emerging technology trends * Utilize electronic searching capability * Report on project progress to management and other appropriate leadership levels on weekly and monthly bases. * Related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
· A minimum of a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry relevant to Position Description functions and/or knowledge of and experience with battery and materials (preferred Li systems).
Other Preferred Capabilities:
· Desirable - 3 to 5 years of professional experience in battery industry (preferred Li systems).
· Ability to travel 10 - 15% of time between Milwaukee and other JCI sites (U.S. and Europe), conferences, and technical meeting.
