BASIC FUNCTION

The Designer is a fully competent designer position. The candidate shall perform varied modeling and detail assignments of an advanced technical nature requiring full use and application of design/drafting methods. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Assignments are in terms of objectives and relative priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Prepare drawings of piece parts and assemblies of unusual, complex or original concept in design requiring a high degree of precision and expertise from engineering data.
* Develop complex designs, including layouts for entire new projects without existing precedents, using Pro/E 3D CAD software.
* Prepare and produce assembly piping designs and sheet metal designs and drawings using Pro/E 3D CAD software.
* Independently applies mechanical, piping, and structural theory.
* Prepare electronic bills of material and related documentation for release to MRP and support data for Edit Manuals/Engineering Standards.
* Train less experienced drafters in areas of technical and practical knowledge.
* Recommend course of action to supervision for establishing schedules and maintain them by directing work of others.
* Contribute to completing a program under-budget and ahead-of-schedule.
* Review project specifications and requirements to assure conformance of design and fabrication of product.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Experienced user of Pro/E or similar 3D CAD software

* Familiarity with other 2D CAD software (CADDS5 preferred) which may be used to maintain layouts/designs of archived data

* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), as well as Internet software and E-mail is required
* Must be highly motivated, team oriented, and possess the ability to work within a fast-paced schedule driven work environment
* Ability to multitask and demonstrate extreme flexibility in completing assigned tasks

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree in Engineering or related science and a minimum of seven (7) years experience in design. Prior work experience utilizing Pro/E software is required. Demonstrated knowledge of drafting room procedures such as retrieving and applying information from drafting manual, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings is required. Demonstrated knowledge and use of codes and standards for design application and conformance as related to job, i.e. ANSI - dimensioning and tolerance standards
