Located at Johnson Controls Corporate Headquarters in Glendale, WI (Milwaukee metro), Johnson Controls as exciting opportunities available in the Internal Audit Department. Under the general direction and supervision of the Regional Manager Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor has primary responsibility to deliver assurance services to management by providing independent audits and assessments of business risk, regulatory compliance, internal control assessments and the efficiency/adequacy of standards and business processes resulting in value-added recommendations, process improvements and stronger internal controls. Primary duties include:
* Plans and executes accounting, financial reporting audits, operational audits, business process control reviews and compliance management engagements.
* Serves as a liaison with operating unit location regarding audit schedule, secures required pre-audit information, asses key risk factors/control activities, and ensures resource assignments,
* Leads the audit, gathers supporting documentation for audit issues, reviews audit finding with local management, provides cost-benefit/value added recommendations, issues draft report, finalizes audit reports, updates system and files work papers.
* Provides mentoring for staff members.
* Champions and promotes the use of best practices within the audit function. Identifies barriers to the efficient and timely completion of quality audits and recommends pertinent solutions.
* Assists the external auditors with annual year-end audit.
* Supports the integration of interns and new staff members into the department.
Qualifications
* B.S or B.B.A. in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advance degree related to business and management such as MBA is desirable. Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CFA or other relevant credentials are preferred.
* Minimum of 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in the accounting and auditing field.
* Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and orientation toward internal controls, risk assessment and operational auditing.
* Fluency in English required, other foreign language skills are desirable, particularly Spanish and Portuguese.
* Strong skills in cost and inventory accounting and manufacturing plant auditing including; financial, operational and control areas.
* Strong analytical and data management skills. Must exhibit the ability to interpret and assimilate complex/conflicting data and identify problems by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach, anticipating the implications and consequences of situation and make recommendations in a relatively limited time frames.
* Prior experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and compliance preferred.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Outgoing self-starter and comfortable working with all management levels.
* Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time including some international travel.
