Responsibility Level:
Under general direction, maintains control of all plant maintenance functions including equipment and facilities. Provides analysis, counsel, advice and recommendations for maintenance cost effectiveness.
Typical Duties:
1. Establishes and maintains effective maintenance procedures, including planning, scheduling, material support and analysis of cost and performance. Regularly reviews maintenance methods, manpower utilization, materials and equipment for potential improvements and cost savings.
2. Directs preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment and facility failures.
3. Develops and assures implementation of a sound maintenance skills training program and/or apprenticeship program as appropriate.
4. Provides technical support and staff coordination of maintenance related items. Coordinates all maintenance and construction activities.
5. Reviews proposals for new equipment, tools and facilities and plans for installation. Assists in preparation, justification and review of appropriation requests, layout and equipment changes.
6. Establishes standard procedures for operation of all utility facilities and maintains adequate operating records.
7. Assists in compliance to pertinent OSHA and EPA regulations.
8. Directs maintenance purchasing operations.
9. Collaborates with plant engineering personnel in the resolution of complex technical problems and the introduction of new equipment processes.
10. Assures adherence to good housekeeping and safety practices with respect to all work performed.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
1. Previous supervisory experience.
2. 4 year college degree, or equivalent, in engineering or operations.
3. Knowledge of maintenance and facilities operations.
